US company’s solar power plants supply 20 million people
In April, in the western United States, 8minute Solar Energy completed the construction of several solar power plants with a total capacity of 3 GW. Now the company has 18 GW of “green” capacities in its assets. All of them will be equipped with energy storage systems, which will flexibly manage demand at peak times.
8minute Solar Energy, the largest privately held manufacturer of solar panels and energy storage systems in the United States, has announced the expansion of its business development plans. The company is developing a construction project in California and the southwestern United States of a number of new generation solar power plants with energy storage.
According to 8minute, such power will be enough to supply 20 million consumers with electricity.
8minute was a company that began supplying solar energy at a price not exceeding the cost of electricity from fossil fuels. And at the end of 2019, she received permission to build an energy storage system north of Los Angeles with a record low cost of electricity.
“While financial markets are faced with uncertainty due to the COVID-19 pandemic, 8minute still has a strong monetary position and balance, as well as the support of our financial partners. We were lucky in choosing a long-term perspective, and we will continue our growth path to ensure clean and reliable production - day and night - at a lower price than energy from fossil fuels, ”said Tom Buttgenbach, CEO.
All 8minute solar power stations will be equipped with high-tech installations for storing solar energy (solar-plus-storage). They will allow to satisfy demand at the moments of peak loads.
Meanwhile, in Europe, energy production at photovoltaic stations is breaking new records . This is facilitated by cool sunny weather, as well as quarantine, because of which the air has become much cleaner.
