Halloween to you guys I am actually wearing a poop costume that is one of the joys but my job is that I have a lot of cool costumes a lot of cool things that I can wear because I'm a poop doctor my passion is to give you tips and tricks to help out with your gut health if you knew these video series every Thursday around this time I do a poop tip Thursday where I dropped a deuce yes I actually said that on a question that you may have for your gut health at any point I'm the video click on the show notes down below I'll give you more information about what we can do to help out with your gut health good in today's video I'll talk to you about the three most common issues people have during the holidays and what you can do about that so the holidays are a great time I love this time of the year I love the food I love the weather I love the change in the colors but because of all the differences that are going on during this time of the year whether it's new foods travel visiting friends a lot of us can have worsening of our gut issues the most common things that people suffer from during this time of the year is heartburn constipation look I'm gonna give you a couple simple tips to help out with all that now because of the different foods that we're eating because the fact that we're drinking maybe some beverages or make us a little more festive or because maybe we're traveling as well our GI tract is not going to be the same as it normally is so one of the main issues people have is constipation now the reason people are constipated during this time is because the bad foods are weeds the fact that you're not doing your normal activity or you may be traveling as well so some of the things I'm gonna recommend to help out with constipation during the holidays number one make sure you drink enough water people do not take enough water and they underestimate how much water you need so make sure you take enough
water the second thing we recommend is see if you can walk and move around more the more that you can walk the more you can move your bowels the better it's going to be to have you have more effective bowel movements the third thing I'm going to recommend is if you can I know this may be hard try to back off on some of the good foods you may be having if there is a second piece of pecan pie that you want just think twice about it because that may make your constipation symptoms worse now another common problem that happens during the holidays is heartburn oh yes I get heartburn that gets worse during the holidays because all the bad foods that I eat I know that for me this time it can really make my symptoms a lot worse but some of things that you can do number one if you do eat make sure you don't lay down immediately so one of the more common things we do during this time maybe we're in a big dinner we have a big meal as soon as we're done we're sitting back home watching TV watching football or watching something else what you can do is make sure you don't lie down immediately after you eat in fact if you can avoid late night meals if you can wait maybe two or three hours whenever you eat too whenever you lie down or even sleep that will help out with your heartburn symptoms the second thing you can do actually is to increase the amount of vegetables now I know this is something you may not want to hear between the holidays but fiber really does help out when it comes to heartburn symptoms so if you know that you're gonna be eating something bad or you know that your Harper may fluctuate during the time of the holidays try to increase your fiber as well and for some people who do these things in which it may not actually help you may need to try some over-the-counter or prescribed medications to help out with your Harper now the third most common symptom during the holidays is bloating a lot of people have bloating a lot of people can suffer from this and there are a couple things that you can do to help out with loading number one if you can minimize the amount of sugars and carbohydrates and this should help out with bloating a lot of people don't realize that there are certain ingredients in certain carbohydrates ..
